The back half of this month certainly ran away from me. I posted my impressions of Monster Hunter Wilds and then peaced out for the month.
Whoops.
Sorry!
It wasn’t even from a lack of post ideas. I’ve been sitting on one in particular for several weeks. More just… Playing lots of games.

Monster Hunter Wilds reigned supreme at the start of the month, but as noted in my impressions piece, by then, I was largely already done with the game until updates started rolling out.
Title Update 1 is pretty close, though, coming April 4th. April is going to be fairly packed all around, with big updates coming to both Last Epoch and Path of Exile as well.

If you’ve never played Mini Motorways (or Mini Metro before it), you may not be aware that it features a scoreboard. And sure, you can view against world stats and whatnot, but more fun by far is comparing with all your other Steam friends.
Frostilyte started playing again recently, and he is very good at it. As such, he has set a number of tantalising targets to chase after.
Now, I’m not that competitive. (Stop laughing, I’m not.) …But this was still enough to get me to pick up the game again and almost double my previous time spent in it.
Even so… So far, I’ve only been able to top his score twice — Los Angeles and Tokyo — and on the latter, he quickly took the top spot back again. My Los Angeles score (5.2k) is probably safe for the foreseeable future, though.

Be that as it may, the maps I’ve taken serious runs at so far (erm, really only the two mentioned then Beijing in addition) I’ve got significantly better personal best scores than I’d managed in the past. Frosti has been very helpful in offering advice and marking up maps for what could be better. The overall spirit of it has been incredibly positive, enough so that Magi and Krikket have jumped in on the fun as well.

March Gaming Goals

Monster Hunter Wilds: Complete the Main Story Campaign (i.e., roll credits).
Done! Went well beyond that and passed HR 50 as well, which unlocks all possible enemies, including the new ones coming in TU1. :)

Monster Hunter Wilds: Beat the Title Update 1 content!
Mini Motorways: Rise to Frosti’s level one more time! (It still counts if he takes it back later, hah)

| 2 | Monster Hunter Wilds | 59.4 | 36.0% |
| 3 | Mini Motorways | 14.2 | 8.6% |

| 7 | Mini Metro | 3.6 | 2.2% |
| 8 | Warframe | 2.5 | 1.5% |
| 9 | Valheim | 1.1 | 0.7% |

I picked up Metaphor: ReFantazio (and the Persona 3 remaster) in a sale in January, but hadn’t touched it until now.
I picked up from the end of my demo save, so I’m about 8-9 hours played all things considered, I believe.
And I have to admit… So far, at least, I’m just not seeing what the hype was about. I’ll likely give it more time still and see if it picks up, or possibly more to the point, whether my appetite for the game-type picks up.
I still haven’t even done much of FF7: Rebirth (PC) yet!
Books Read March 2025

I finished Wind and Truth (Stormlight Archive #5) and ended up giving it a 4/5 rating (I really liked it) on Goodreads.
For whatever issues it has, it did do a great job of wrapping up the first major arc of the Stormlight Archive, and it left me with the sincere hope that we’re not left waiting too long for #6.
On the other hand, it also didn’t leave me with Post Good Book Sadness that a truly amazing 5/5 book (or series) can sometimes do.
I jumped right into Nolyn (The Rise and Fall #1), the last series of Sullivan’s I have to read through before he releases another one. I was a little concerned that the time skip and new characters would be disconcerting. Something in me very much rebels against the whole ‘Oh, we’re dealing with the last books kids now?’ thing.
But by now, I really should’ve had more faith.
Sullivan is once again proving to have handled the leap with great skill and crafted another set of immediately likeable characters, with just enough connection to the preceding series to give a good sense of continuity.
