Delta Lockdown

Welp, tonight was going to be about my first impressions of Returnal. I’ve played a few hours now, even made it to the end of Zone 1 boss on my fourth or so go.
But instead, today has had some bigger news.

They weren’t able to confirm it was a Delta variant case tonight, but given all cases seen in MIQ / at the border for the past while have been — they’re treating it like it is. Full genomic sequencing will be carried out overnight to confirm both the variant and whether it can be tied back to a border case.
So far though, there is no obvious tie back here. So questions on how it managed to get into the community are certainly going to float around.
I’m not too surprised at the reaction and after seeing how trying to go more softly in Sydney has worked out for them, even a little appreciative. As much as I’m not looking forward to a full, hard, level 4 lockdown over the next week (at least) — it’s a dang side better than the alternative!
As Jacinda said — if you’re going out, out of simple courtesy and service to others, if not your own protection — wear a mask. Delta is incredibly infectious with cases being transmitted at a casual passing of people.
I guess we’ll see how it goes — I’m hopeful that even with a few more cases almost inevitably being found over the next day or two, that with the early and hard lockdown, we’ll be out of this home free in the planned timeframe. This is the first time in a bit over 6 months we’ve had COVID in the community, so let’s get back to that please!
