Humble Choice: October 2020

The last two months have had it such that classic and top tier subscribers for ‘this month only’ received all twelve titles rather than having to select ten or nine respectively. So who knows how long ‘this month only’ will last for, but while it does I think I might change up my format a little.

I imagine there might still be some people out there on lesser Humble Choice plans, so I’ll still run through a prioritised order of picks from most preferred to least preferred — pretending as always for the purposes of those picks, that I don’t own any of them already. (Although in this case, I actually truly don’t own any!)

But if that’s not you, just have at it! Pick them all up! ;D

Bold titles are ones I’m sure I want. Top tier options. Italic titles I might not bother to redeem even with the choice to do so.

I’m quite excited by Tropico 6 being in this list. I’ve been on the edge of buying it ever since it came out. Ditto for Sunless Skies, actually. I do already own (and love) Sunless Seas, but I had heard some complaints about Skies — admittedly mostly during it’s now long past early access phase, though — that held me back from purchasing.

After a couple of months of somewhat lacklustre options, this is quite a nice change of pace.

I’ve gone back and forward though on some of the positions on this list for other titles though. For example, both Lightmatter and Autonauts could sit higher on the list depending on my mood in the moment. It’s not outside the realm of possibility that I end up playing those at least a little before my top two picks even.

Ah well.

We’ll see how it goes! I’m probably not going to pay for this one early for immediate access — I have a lot of stuff I already want to revisit on the new PC, so no need to further add to that problem. :)

I already owned a couple this month (Autonauts, Uncertain and Sunless Seas), but I too am overall pleased with the selection, and the only one I have zero interest in is the GOAT of Duty.

Yea, I’m with you on Goat of Duty. Absolutely 0 interest. Would rather it was just a selection of 11 than present. Many on this list are in a position of holding some interest, but I just know will never surface to the top of the backlog. Even so, just Tropico 6 and Sunless Skies is a pretty decent win in my book. :)

I have been playing Tropico 6 since the beta. I really love that whole series. So, I obviously already own it, but I still love that it’s in this bundle, because they did bring out a good and solid new Tropico game if you ask me.
I’ve been on the fence about the two Sunless games, so I’m happy that I get them now for such a cheap price. :p Same with The Suicide of Rachel Foster.
I own The Uncertain, but haven’t played it.
Altogether, it looks like a really good bundle for me, despite already having two of the games on the list.

The fact you have liked Tropico 6 bodes well. I remember being a tad disappointed with 5 in how little it progressed over 4, so I ended up holding back on this one too.

Glad you’ve got things to enjoy in this bundle too! If you’ve never played Sunless Seas I can confirm you’re in for a treat there. Skies I’m looking forward to myself. :)

I couldn’t say if it’s better than 4 or not. It’s very different. But I like it a lot better than 5! I miss that there’s no main story, but the individual mission maps are fun to play as well. I also really love the changes to the transportation and the bus system is actually a good thing as I’ve been able to set up a few routes that have a lot of Tropicans use it.

I’m looking forward to giving Sunless Seas a try then. :)
