*Yawn* Is it Gamescom time alread- Wait, there’s a Looter Shooter?!

Alright, I might not be quite as cranky about Gamescom (and similar events) as Pete, but we’re alike in that my hype for them has also waned over the years. I mean- I don’t mind the flood of trailers that follows in the slightest, but we have so much to look forward to over the very near term, I find it rather difficult to fathom adding even more to the pile.
But then they said the magic words.
The passphrase to my gaming-heart.
Looter-Shooter.
There are a couple of red flags already here, not least of which, Nexon. So I would expect a fairly heavily monetised play experience, venturing potentially into the pay-to-win territory. That’d be a fairly significant reason to put it aside.
Then there is the clear willingness to rely on fan service to titillate their way to interest.
I mean… Bit unnecessary really, the gameplay shown seemed to be fairly decent, that aside.
We got grappling hooks in there, we got the guns, we got the… mech-suit (possibly cyborg-esque enhancement?), there appear to be baddies… Sure looks like it might be checking the boxes here.
Oh… But for one fairly glaring omission. Not one single loot shower was on display.
Not.
One.
I’m not mad- just disappointed.
Incidentally, I could’ve sworn we’d seen a reveal for this before. Fan service and Nexon and all. Oh. Yup! There we go. We did. Er, a year ago, at Gamescom 2022.
The new-news though is that there is an Open Beta next month, Tues 19th September through to Monday 25th September, and you can sign-up here for Steam, PlayStation or Xbox.
Despite any misgivings I have, I’ll no doubt give it a try anyway.
It isn’t every day a new looter-shooter rolls around!
