Alright, so, it has only been a few days since the last journal, but I’m back! Moreover, I even have some plays for additional posts that aren’t simply end of month recaps.
Perhaps a consideration of what my top x games of the year might be. 10 or 5? Unsure! Depends how much I end up writing about each. (Probably 5, then. xD)
I’d also like to do a look back on my gaming in general over 2025, but potentially those two posts get merged.
We’ll have to see.
In any event, Happy New Year!
Gaming Goals
December Goals

I didn’t really set any goals this time around. By the time I did the last journal, you could’ve just about measured the remaining time of December in hours. Conveniently.
Even so, one I could have set, and achieved in either case, was completion of the core main story quest of Wuthering Waves 3.0.
It was OK. I like the new area and characters. But it still felt significantly smaller in scope than the storyline accompanying Rinascita’s 2.0 entry.
That said- I think there are several main-quest adjacent storylines to pursue which I haven’t yet begun, so it’s possible I’ll change my mind here as I dig into some of those in the coming days and weeks.
January Goals

- Blue Prince: Get into the Antechamber.
I picked up Blue Prince when it came out, and I put it down again for two reasons.
- The developer said new content was going to be added up until ~1.10.
- I reached the antechamber on a run and then made a rather frustrating (at the time) discovery.
Now… #1 wasn’t a great reason to put it down. There was probably not too far off 100 hours of play even at that point in time.
#2 is probably, if I’m being honest, the real reason. This next part is going to be a very minor spoiler — but I think it is good for the sanity of anyone coming in to know this. If you’d rather not even this minor spoiler though, skip ahead to the next title.
Alright.
Ready?
Spoiler: Drafting the rooms and managing your resources such that you reach one of the entries to the Antechamber is not enough. You will not gain access to it from this alone. There is something else you must do on your runs to open one or more of the Antechamber doors. /Spoiler

I dipped my toe back into Path of Exile 2 this month, the first time I’ve done so in any serious manner since it launched last December. Thankfully, it feels like PoE2 might finally be on a good track.
Doesn’t hurt that the Druid class and skills seem pretty awesome as well.
Blue Prince I mentioned above, so I’ll just add here I’m glad to have picked it up again. I bought it as a Christmas gift for a friend who often enjoys these types of puzzle games — and we’ve been kind of Single Player Multi Playering1 it, and it has been a blast. :)
Books Read December 2025

I think I’ve decided that Urban Fantasy is more or less my version of a ‘cosy’ read. It may not always have the best prose, or the most complex plots, but they’re like a warm cosy blanket… Even if they sometimes might be dealing with subjects of unholy terrors from the beyond.
James Butcher joins my rotation of authors in this space I’ll check out. I have to admit- I wasn’t expecting much going in. But, while still early days yet, the question has already arisen in my mind whether James might be on a course to surpass his father.
I’ve started into James’ third book in The Unorthodox Chronicles now, and it also marks the end of what is currently published.
So very shortly I’ll have to take another look at what I’m going to read next. I think might be up for something more in the epic fantasy arena again, but we’ll see!
